Books

The Founder of Shangwe Creative Arts Nicole Moore has extensive experience of supporting the development of over 200 writers/poets through her three independently produced anthologies; two of which were supported by a Grants for the Arts Award from the Arts Council England, thereby identifying and giving a voice/platform to many previously unheard writers.

Many of those writers/poets have increased their confidence by seeing their work published and/or by performing at related reading events and have been inspired to create other published works, thereby increasing their motivation to seriously pursue a writing career.  Nicole has further developed these writers through Shangwe News, through her blog and poetry events.

Brown Eyes is a unique collection of poetry and autobiographical writing from 42 previously unheard and talented black and mixed-race writers - everyday women expressing themselves in their own style.  It provides an insight into their perspectives of living in the UK by sharing their views relating to gender, race, culture, heritage, ethnicity and identity.

Some of the contributions are energetic, others speak with
softness, some discuss childhood, love, while others deal
with loss.  The voices collected here range from teenage to
mature, rural and urban, from mothers and daughters,
all contributing to the anthology's rich diversity.
